Why I wrote this book

The characters have been in my head for years, since I first visited Sardinia in 1972. It is a story of two people from different cultures who fall in love and what happens when fate takes a hand. It is set in Sardinia with its wonderful white beaches and beautiful scenery and is a classic love story. People like to be taken away from the mundane and enter a world that is not too far away, also, where they can go and visit and see for themselves.

Lexa compares her writing to authors like Grazia Deledda, Marcello Serra, Giuseppe Dessi

The Whispering Wind is a moving story of two lovers, set on the beautiful island of Sardinia, where Elise goes on holiday to escape a loveless and violent marriage. Whilst there, she meets and falls in love with Beppe, a local Sard. Despite religious and cultural complications, they embark on a romantic and passionate affair. Beppe shows Elise his island and introduces her to the welcoming culture of the Sardinians and Elise soon falls under the spell of both the island and its people. But after weeks of blissful happiness, Elise has to return unexpectedly to England to face all the problems she had been so desperate to leave behind...The Whispering Wind is a work of fiction that will appeal to women who are romantics at heart.

About the Author

Lexa Dudley

Lexa Dudley is a freelance writer and a poet. She fell in love with the island of Sardinia in 1972 when visiting with her family; and became intrigued with the island’s unique culture.

‘The Whispering Wind’ is a romantic story which gives us a glimpse into the closed world of the Sardinians and reflects her love for the island and its people. Lexa has returned to Sardinia every year since her first visit and travelled extensively over the island to see the many interesting sites and monuments.

She gave an interview on Radio Sardegna in 1978 about her love for the island and enjoyed a close friendship with the late notable author Marcello Serra and his family.

Lexa lives in Suffolk with her husband, three dogs and two horses and enjoys her four sons and eight grandchildren.
