I am interested in the theme of this book, which was largely about the afterlife and the worlds in-between. It took a while to get to this point, though.
The book starts with different character’s stories which, at first, seem unconnected. It wasn’t till about halfway through that I realised who the new characters were when they pop up again in the later story that brings them all together.
Kallie emerges as one of the main characters, who works part time at a dementia care home. There she meets Alex, who is a medium and has contact with the dead. Between them and the patients at the home they eventually discover why some of the patients stop communicating with those around them for long periods at a time. I liked the haunting scenes which befall Kallie. The odd happenings make you start asking questions.
The book was an enjoyable read but the reader realises what happens a long time before Alex does so it feels like you’re waiting a long time for the outcome. I would recommend it.
